About the Jordan Location

Caribou Coffee has opened its very first Caribou Cabin location in Jordanh. The company announced plans for the new small format locations in August and will open five locations yet in 2019. Caribou Cabins have “Caribou-blue” exteriors, drive-thru windows, and convenient walk-up windows (no interior seating). The locations capture the brand’s iconic Northwoods feel that guests love, and are designed to deliver on guest convenience, speed, and efficiency. Perfect for fueling life’s everyday adventures…fast!

The first Caribou Cabin in Jordan is located at 225 Triangle Lane North. The location is unique at 1,087 square feet, double the size of other Caribou Cabins set to open later this year. The Jordan location also features a small walk in lobby that is exclusive to this location where guests can come inside to order. The drive-through has two order points as well as a pay window and pick up window to maximize efficiency during peak hours. Guests also have the option to “Order Ahead” and can pick up their mobile orders through the drive through or lobby.

Progress in Jordan – Brentwood Terrace

The Scott County Community Development Agency (CDA) recently received its approvals to construct 59-units of senior housing in the City of Jordan. This project, called Brentwood Terrace, is the second phase of senior apartments funded by the Scott County CDA.

Brentwood Terrace represents a significant investment in the City of Jordan and an opportunity for older Jordan residents to continue to live in the community even as they age out of their single-family homes. The 59-unit project is made up of Studio, 1 and 2-bedroom units along with amenities including a salon, club room, and fitness and community rooms.

The project is not just a win for the City’s older residents, however. Housing stock currently occupied by older residents can be a perfect example of what is known as “naturally occurring affordable housing” (NOAH). As older residents age out of their homes, those homes become available to younger residents. They’re often more affordable for homebuyers than a newly constructed home.

A public groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for November 18th at 4pm. Completion of Brentwood Phase 2 is expected sometime in early 2021.

Residents with questions about the project are welcome to contact the Scott County CDA at 952-426-4088, cda-info@scottcda.org, or visit scottcda.org

Business of the Week: Siwek Lumber & Millwork

Business of the Week: Siwek Lumber & Millwork

The City of Jordan is happy to make Siwek the Business of the Week this week. Siwek Lumber & Millwork recently celebrated their 30th year in the City. Congrats you guys!

Siwek’s History in Jordan:

Looking for a bigger distribution storage site closer to the manufacturing towns south and west of the inner city, the Jordan, Minnesota location was purchased. A massive 10 acre site (now expanded to 13 acres) provided the much-needed storage for all kinds of building materials. A saw mill was purchased across town in Jordan, then moved to the storage site, and expanded further with the purchase of more modern equipment from a saw mill in Rockford. A retail store, with a full supply of building materials, hardware and millwork developed in 1991.

The Jordan location flourished in the 90’s and into the new millennium by providing easy access to the booming SW Metro Area. Post and Pole Frame Buildings were the rage and Siwek’s led by providing a high quality building that meets more difficult metro area buildings standards. It is still highly regarded as the premier Post Frame Buildings in the area. The new Ag-Star Arena at the Minnesota State Fair is a shining example of this distinction.
