Letters to Santa Drawing 2021

The Jordan Commercial Club along with the Jordan area Businesses would like to invite you to participate in “Letters to Santa”. All Letters submitted will be entered into a drawing for fun prizes! 

Please drop all Letters off to the Big Red Mailbox at Pekarna Park on Water Street by Midnight on December 21st. We will draw the lucky winners at random on Wednesday, December 22nd.

I Just Can’t Cake It is a bakery located in The Neon Orchid Emporium store building that opened this past summer that offers pastries, cookies, cinnamon rolls, muffins, danish, cake, cakepops, cupcakes, brownies.  Bakery products are a culmination of experience that resulted from baking for others in home health and hospice as form of therapy when the baker was a former RN and for family and friends.

Jordan Economic Development Authority (JEDA) Opening

The City of Jordan currently has one opening on the Jordan Economic Development Authority (JEDA).  Residents are encouraged to apply for an appointment to the authority by downloading and application from the City of Jordan JEDA page at the following link:  https://jordanmn.gov/city-government/economic-development-authority/

Applications will start to be reviewed November 30th, and should be turned in by then.

The position has an average time commitment of four to eight hours per month for a term of 6 years. JEDA meets every second Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Jordan City Council Chambers at 116 1st St E.

The role of the Economic Development Authority Commissioner is to review and act on matters related to business retention and expansion and community redevelopment/revitalization. The Economic Development Authority strives to proactively encourage and promote economic development by attracting new business, cultivate existing business, improve the business environment and strategically utilize resources to create jobs through commercial and industrial opportunities within the community. The Economic Development Authority serves as an advisory commission to the City Council.

What:  5-star Chef Banrith Yong, a native of Cambodia, studied culinary arts in the French portion of Switzerland before coming to Minnesota. He was previously a chef at a place called Swiss Alps in Highland Park, and at the Whitney Hotel prior to opening Suzettes in 1998.

Event of the Week: 16th Annual Jordan PTO Craft Fair

Our 16th Annual PTO Craft Fair helps fund school trips, events, and help teachers with needs in their classroom. Please come check out all the wonderful 90+ vendors we have to showcase. There is Joe Mama BBQ items that will also be giving back 5% of his sales to the PTO. We have a make and take craft booth ran by none other then our very own Art Teacher Kristin Kilgren. 100% of the proceeds from that booth go to PTO.

Food Trucks that are confirmed: Maui Wowi & Fatbellies. We also have vendors with goodies to sell: Tommy’s Sweet Treats, Sweet Sassafras Cookies, MJ Bakesalot and also nuts by FOURager Family. Plenty to snack on while you shop!

Business or Event of the Week: 2021 Business to Business Trick of Treating Event

This year we plan on doing our Jordan Business to Business Trick or Treating Event in person again! We are hoping for the residents to come out & support our local businesses.
