City of Jordan Receives SolSmart Bronze Designation

The City of Jordan is pleased to announce it has earned the Bronze designation from SolSmart, a national program that recognizes cities that foster solar energy usage and remove obstacles to solar development at the local level. The City made changes to permitting, inspection, planning and zoning processes that will help solar companies reduce the cost of installations and pass those savings on to consumers.

The City currently receives 120% of electricity used for City purposes from community solar gardens, and understands the importance of lowering barriers to solar development. By receiving the Bronze SolSmart designation, Jordan is streamlining requirements and taking steps to encourage solar development. SolSmart is an initiative led by The Solar Foundation and the International City/County Management Association and funded by the US Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office.

Business of the Week:  LCL Essential Oil Products
Essential oils used to make all natural products for your home, your children and for you! Soy candles, wax melts, lotion, eye cream, bath bombs and more!

All natural products for your home, your children and for you!

I started using essential oils in 2015 for my family and I. Once I learned about how to use them I started making my own natural products for my family. I have two girls and wanted to be as natural as I could on what I would use for them! I started with slaves and lotions and it just kept going from there! I also dabbled in making my own soy candles and realizing how toxic a paraffin candle can be, I decided to start educating my friends and family about how we need to use more natural products. I would give them samples of different things to try and hearing how well my facial moisturizer or salves would work they encouraged me to start going to craft shows to sell!

So hear I am today… Working a full time job, 2 kids, a husband and a handful of barn animals, I still find time to create all of my “concoctions” as my husband calls them. I love seeing how they actually work for people and help with the situation they may have or burning that all natural non toxic soy candle in their home!

Some products also available at Radermacher’s in Jordan!

MnDOT – 169 Resurfacing Project

MnDOT will be resurfacing US 169 from Jordan to just north of Belle Plaine, and from just south of Belle Plaine to Highway 19. MnDOT’s project website is http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hwy169belleplaineandjordan/. MnDOT’s contractor plans to start as soon as April 30th, depending on weather conditions.  Between Belle Plaine and Jordan, work will begin in early May on the southbound lanes. All traffic will be confined to the northbound lanes. In late June or in July, MnDOT will flip traffic from the northbound to southbound side. All US 169 traffic will be confined to two lanes (single lane each direction) until August 18th.

The project involves resurfacing of the 169 pavement and some access changes to driveways and intersecting roadways. Most significantly, the project involves construction of a ‘reduced conflict intersection’ design at Delaware Ave and US 169. More information on this type of layout is available at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/roadwork/rci/.

Questions regarding the project can be directed to: Kirsten Klein at kirsten.klein@state.mn.us.
