The Water Department flushes the water mains every Spring to help maintain water quality and prevent sediment buildup in the pipes. Crews also get an opportunity to operate and inspect the fire hydrants. Few things to remember if you notice your water is cloudy:
- This means there is some air in your water lines
- Open up a cold tap closest to your water meter (typically in a mechanical room/basement), and run water for 5-15 minutes.
- Cloudy/Discolored water is OK to drink
- Don’t do laundry until the cloudiness is gone
