Press Release: Jordan Police Win Safety Award

Jordan PD to receive the MN Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety – Outstanding Agency Award***

Today Bill Hammes from the Office of Traffic Safety stopped at our police department to meet with Chief Empey. Bill presented Chief Empey a letter notifying him that the Jordan Police Department has been selected to receive the MN DPS/OTS Outstanding Agency Award; an award given to agencies for outstanding performance in enforcing laws pertaining to traffic safety targeted by the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Enforcement grant in an effort to lower and eliminate preventable traffic related deaths in our State.

JPD Officers arrested 96 impaired driver’s (alcohol and controlled substances combined) in 2016 up from 39 such arrests in 2014. As part of the award JPD will be receiving a new in squad radar system valued at approximately $3100. The award will formally be presented to the Jordan Police Department at a future City Council meeting.

Great job to our Officers for being committed to taking impaired driver’s off our roadways helping to keep our citizens and City safe!
